Kurt Badenhausen wrote in Forbes.com, August 30, 2010 article that, “Roger Federer outpaces everyone in the field of tennis” when it comes to being the highest paid tennis player.  In the slide show offered on the Forbes.com site, a slightly different version of the top ten players and their rankings is presented.  Although there are slight players’ income variations shown from the Forbes.com site, monetarily, Roger Federer is solidly dominating the number one position.  Men and women tennis players are fortunate that an equal payout is available for them according to Forbes.com, “the men’s and women’s US Open champion will each earn $1.7 million for the title.” Of final note, according to Tennis Country’s July 13, 2011 article, 2011 professional tennis players are enjoying an upswing in their personal take home income.
“Given the difficult global economic climate the past few years, it’s impressive the way the professional tennis world and its tournaments and players have managed to not only continue playing with relatively few problems, but actually even earn more money each year!  Therefore, in many ways, it’s not that surprising that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova have all made the Forbes 2011 List of the Highest Paid Athletes.  The Forbes list factors in income from salaries, bonuses, prize money, appearance fees and endorsement income during the past year.”
