“After 20 years we are still going strong and closer” is what Linda “Duchess” McCaskill smilingly shared glancing at “Duke” who affectionately gave a kiss on his partner in life cheek during their interview with Miriam Stevens, host of The Thankful Revolution:  TODAH PRAISE CHANNEL.  The Duke and Duchess is how they are known in Hampton Roads community, grew up together in Newport News, Virginia.  Remarkably, it was not until their 25-year Huntington High class reunion, failed marriages, and 10 children later did they reconnect eventually marrying.

Minister Linda “Duchess and Reverend Eric “Duke” McCaskill lovingly recount their reconnection at Huntington High 25 year class reunion.

Although, it was a jovial atmosphere, the topic of  “saving our children who are found in a home with an absentee parent through incarceration or not present” is serious and unfortunately a rising household dilemma.

Duke stressed, “we have to do a better job instilling virtue values so children and families can realize their True Identity and Purpose.”  This is where the McCaskill’s have truly found their calling by mentoring youth through CAAP (Children of Absentee Parent Project).

Wrapping up the interview Duke noted, “close to 20,000 children on the Virginia Peninsula have a parent in the criminal justice system furthermore it only takes $300 to send a child to camp, but typically more than $2000 weekly put a child in juvenile detention.”

  2. Eric Taylor, Gospel/Jazz Violinist

For many people, the image of a violinist is an eccentric individual standing erect, playing a classical piece by one of the greatest composers’ void of emotion. There is, however one who dispels this stereotype and presents the violin, as it has never been heard before-someone who appeals to all audiences, young and seasoned alike. His name is Eric L. Taylor, violinist extraordinaire!!! Eric is establishing new plateaus in violin performance fused in the Gospel music genre.

His music has been described as soulful, uplifting, refreshing and inspiring. During Eric’s performances, audiences not only experience an emotionally charged performance that ministers to their hearts and souls, they also witness the effect of the music on Eric.

Eric was born in Newport News, Virginia in 1970 to Elder Ernest and Missionary Patricia Taylor. He grew up at the St. John Church of God in Christ, in Newport News where the highly respected and renowned Bishop Samuel Green, Jr. is the pastor. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he played the viola and cello. God gave Eric the gift to play the violin and to date he has not had any type of formal instructions on the violin.

Eric has made special appearances on TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network), The 700 Club and the Turning Point broadcast with Dr. David Jeremiah. He now performs for such government agencies as the Pentagon, the Drug Enforcement Administration and various branches of the military armed forces. Eric has performed with such artists as Kirk Franklin, Ramsey Lewis, Vickie Winans, Kim Burrell just to name a few.

Eric is a member of Calvary Revival Church (CRC) in Norfolk where Bishop B. Courtney McBath is his pastor. Eric faithfully plays for the Praise, Worship and Arts Band and Orchestra at CRC.

Eric has released several CD’s including, “HeartStrings-A LIVE Experience,” (recorded at Old Dominion University), “Reflections,” and his latest and first Gospel/Jazz CD entitled “Free.”
